How Paintless Dent Removal Works

Hail Star Damage RepairIf your vehicle has sustained damage while being left outside during a hailstorm, you may be wondering if you’re going to be stuck with your car’s pockmarked body for the lifetime of the vehicle. Fortunately, the pros at Hail Star PDR dent removal have the tools, skills, and experience to restore most auto bodies to their original condition without even requiring a repaint. Here’s a brief overview of PDR dent removal.

How It Works

PDR stands for paintless dent repair, and is more effective today than ever. Because modern auto paint offers a degree of flexibility not present in older vehicles, dents can often be corrected without any chipping or flaking. Specially designed tools are used to push the dent out from the other side of the body panel. In other cases, glue and tabs are used to pull on the dent from the outer surface. Sometimes heat is used to increase the flexibility of the paint and the metal during the process. To ensure the dent is brought flush with the original contour of your vehicle, a special light is used to create a reflection off the vehicle’s body panel. This reflection is extremely sensitive to differences in the surface, and very precise results can be achieved.

Second Opinion

Many times insurance companies will recommend replacing an entire body panel on the vehicle. If the damage is severe, the added expense is worth replacing the panel, but if the hail damage is typical, generally we can fix it. Our technicians have years of practical experience, and are able to coax even the most stubborn dent out of the metal. Many times body panels are replaced when all the customer had to do was contact Hail Star for an inspection and a deductible free, zero down repair on any hail damage claim. When the insurance company wants to replace an entire panel, the best thing to do is get a second opinion. I mean, you would not let a surgeon remove your ear without asking for a alternate diagnosis.

Inspection

Hail Damaged VehicleIf you are in need of a second opinion, Hail Star has dedicated dent inspectors to evaluate and assess your vehicle. We believe in saving our clients not only money but time, when a body panel needs to be replaced a large amount of labor is involved, including color matching the paint. Our inspection team can determine if Paintless Dent Repair is right for your specific damage. So, regardless of whether the dent was caused by a Kansas hailstorm or a runaway shopping cart, let us look at it first.

That’s interesting that there’s paintless auto dent repair where there will be no flaking or chipping of the paint and that they can even get the dent to match the contour of the vehicle by using a light to check. My son was driving the other day and ran into poll when backing up and now has a dent on the back of his car. I’ll have to see if I can find an auto service near us that can do the paintless auto dent repair so we won’t have to repaint his car and it will look the same as it was before.

I agree getting a second opinion is always best. Some of the worst dents can be removed by professionals. And for those people who want to try and remove a dent by themselves, I suggest you leave it to the professionals.
